When you say precooked chickpeas, do you mean presoaked dry? Canned?

    • Corrie CooksCorrie Cooks

Presoaked and then boiled chickpeas. but you can also use rinsed and drained canned chickpeas in this recipe too.

    • Chris

The high level of heat required for the commercial canning process (esp FDA regs) cooks all foods.

How long does it take to steam falafel in the Instant Pot?

Do you need to flip them over part way through the cooking process in the Instantpot or do they brown on both sides without flipping them? I'm new to Instantpot. Thank you!

    • Corrie CooksCorrie Cooks

Since we are "steaming" them, no need to open the lid in the middle in order to flip.

      • Slow Cook

Thanks! Do we need to flip if we saute (not steam)?

  5. John Jarret

OK I Have written to several chefs with this question about my instant.pot.Never a reply.Question.If i saute in a seperate pan.will it affect the cook time or quality by not having the instant heated up? Thanks

    a reply.

    • Corrie CooksCorrie Cooks

On this recipe, all the cooking process is on the "saute" mode.
So if you are sauteing using a separate pen, you better finish the process with this pen...

  6. Krystal

If cooking in the saute mode of instapot, do we need to flip?

  7. EMudgeSr

Confused about what kind of "flour" the recipe uses.

    Ingredients calls for:
    ¼ cup flour
    Instructions refer to:
    chickpea flour

    • Corrie CooksCorrie Cooks

Great question-- you can use either. I used all-purpose flour originally but you can use chickpea flour for a gluten free alternative.
